Message to All Members:
Cascade River Community Club is vitally dependent on the members who volunteer for positions on the Board of Directors and the various committees. Volunteering has in the past been the backbone for successful actions in our Park, and now more than ever, we need members to step up and fill open positions. We know the membership has a wealth of skills and experience in its people, so we’re petitioning You to join together with others who are interested in serving. Volunteering for these vital positions means caring members are supporting the ongoing success of our ‘playground’ keeping it attractive and functioning for all of us to enjoy. We have been truly fortunate to have some volunteers like member Ron Ange, who has acted as our water quality operator for several years, and as a ‘fill-in’ caretaker, helping the Park stay on track.
Unfortunately, currently, finding members who would agree to run for board positions or act as committee members has put us in a difficult spot. Our nominating committee, headed by Richard McGuire, has spent recent months searching for candidates and has secured no one. We now expect a reduced board of 3 or 4 members. The normal is 5. Board members not only conduct the essential park business but also serve as chairs of several committees. At this time there is very real risk that expiring terms or resignations will leave the park without a functioning board.
In such a circumstance the park would lose control of being able to be self-governing. The park would revert to an open community within the county with no security gates, and potentially much larger service fees for such as water. There may be less control of our parks and green areas, and increased traffic, all is likely to lower the value of our members’ investments. An outside Management Company would have to be contracted – we would thereby lose our employees – and that Company would be responsible for the day to day operations of the water systems, maintenance, and upkeep of the facilities and roads.
Annual assessments would very likely be much higher, perhaps even doubling.
This board urges the membership to help us by volunteering to be on the Board of Directors, helping us maintain what we all have invested in. This service to CRCC would be time well spent. Please consider volunteering.
Let’s work together to keep our beautiful Community functioning under our own control.
Your Board of Directors
